In 2003 Bedfordshire Children’s Fund financed a pilot project to help children through difficult emotions which often arise during the transition to a new school. Manor Farm Family Centre in Sandy, Bedfordshire was asked to develop and deliver the project to young people at a number of schools in the county.

Project Objectives:

  • To prevent pupil disengagement, non-attendance and/or exclusion from school, particular during the transition period.

  • To make this significant time of change in young people’s lives smoother and less stressful so they might achieve their full potential.

  • To develop student’s life skills such as communication, handling relationships, improving self-esteem, making choices etc, and to help them understand and deal with issues in their personal lives and home environment which may emerge during the transition.
